Dare-devil pirates operating along the rivers and creeks of the Niger Delta over the weekend shot dead a Naval officer in Akassa area of Brass Local Government, Bayelsa State.The gunmen were said to have opened fire on a Naval crew on a routine patrol at a checkpoint in Akassa area of the state on Saturday. The area is the notorious corridor used by oil thieves and foreign vessels to steal Nigeria oil.
